Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Highway/Civil Engineer within our Leicester-based team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure and drainage designs across a diverse range of projects in both the public and private sectors. Working on schemes from residential developments to large-scale highway projects, you will take ownership of design delivery, ensuring compliance with industry standards while contributing to innovative, integrated engineering solutions. You will also support project management, client engagement and quality assurance across a dynamic project portfolio.

Your Impact in this position

You will directly influence the successful delivery of infrastructure schemes by producing robust, compliant and efficient designs. Acting as a key point of contact for clients, you will build trusted relationships while driving projects forward. Your technical expertise and proactive approach will support the delivery of sustainable drainage and highway solutions, while also strengthening team capability through collaboration and mentoring.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience in highway and drainage design, including S278, S38, S104 and S185 schemes
  • In-depth knowledge of DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations and local authority standards

Design & Digital Proficiency

  • Confident using AutoCAD, Civil 3D/Site 3D/PDS and Micro-Drainage
  • Ability to produce detailed designs, calculations, specifications and technical submissions

Project Delivery & Commercial Awareness

  • Proven ability to manage projects independently and deliver on time
  • Experience in commercial management, including change control and client liaison

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
  • Collaborative approach with experience mentoring and supporting colleagues

Health, Safety & Professional Standards

  • Commitment to safe design principles and promoting best practice
  • Awareness of industry legislation and emerging technologies

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with eligibility for IEng (CIHT/MICE). Demonstrable UK experience in infrastructure design, particularly residential and drainage schemes, is essential. Experience working with statutory authorities and a full UK driving licence are required.

Working Environment

This role is based in Leicester with flexible hybrid working available. You can expect a mix of office and home working, alongside site visits and client meetings. Flexible working patterns are supported to help balance project delivery and personal commitments.
