Senior Engineer Mechanical
Senior Mechanical Engineer (FCA Project Engineering Team)
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Fuel Cycle Area (FCA) for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Project Engineering team. This is a pivotal role where you’ll lead the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions, shape technical strategy, and ensure robust governance across complex projects. You’ll work at the forefront of engineering excellence, influencing safety, performance, and innovation while collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical oversight across the full engineering lifecycle, driving the development and execution of engineering and safety case strategies tailored to evolving project demands.
- Ensure all engineering activities align with the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance, while maintaining strong relationships with regulators and stakeholders.
- Support technical governance and design authority, contributing from concept through to commissioning, including:
- Managing technical specifications and approvals
- Supporting the development of engineering solutions aligned with site performance
- Overseeing project delivery, resource planning, contractor coordination, and required governance activities.
- Deliver engineering strategy, safety case frameworks, and project governance for complex projects.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an experienced and driven mechanical engineer with:
- A degree in engineering (or equivalent) and comprehensive mechanical engineering experience, with preference for the nuclear sector.
- Proven experience supporting projects across:
- Design
- Manufacture
- Installation
- Commissioning
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience liaising with contractors.
- Demonstrated technical capability, organisational skills, and commitment to safety, compliance, and quality.
- Post-specific capability analysis assessment.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
