Senior Engineer – Mission Critical Radio & Cellular Systems

Heathrow Airport | Service Operations | Permanent

Help keep one of the world's busiest airports connected.

Our client organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Mission Critical Radio & Cellular Systems to join the team responsible for supporting one of the UK's most complex operational communications environments at Heathrow Airport.

This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in maintaining and evolving the critical communications infrastructure that supports airport operations, emergency response, engineering teams, airlines, ground handlers and numerous operational partners. Every day, your expertise will help ensure resilient communications that keep Heathrow operating safely, securely and efficiently.

The Opportunity:

This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll provide technical leadership across a diverse estate of mission-critical communications technologies. You'll lead the investigation of complex technical issues, support major incidents, influence future technology improvements and work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and project teams to deliver highly resilient services.

You'll be involved in both operational support and strategic service improvement, making this an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems whilst helping shape the future of operational communications.

Technologies You'll Support:

Working across a broad communications estate, you'll support technologies including:

  • Mission Critical TETRA radio systems
  • DMR and PMR radio networks
  • Legacy MPT1327 infrastructure
  • RF over Fibre Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
  • Multi-Operator Cellular Infrastructure (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G)
  • Mission Critical Dispatch Systems
  • Fibre and IP communications networks
  • Airport-wide RF distribution and antenna systems

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
