Senior ML Software QA Engineer – Graphcore
About the Role
Validate the ML stack that turns accelerator hardware into trusted AI performance.
This role sits at the intersection of modern ML models, Graphcore’s software, and hardware platforms. Your mission is to test, benchmark, and validate complex systems before deployment to customers. You will:
- Exposure regressions, correctness issues, and performance limitations across frameworks, models, and execution environments
- Diagnose why something works (or fails) in low-level ML behaviour—including numerical precision, quantisation, attention mechanisms, distributed execution, and model subgraphs
- Run open-source models, build automated benchmarking pipelines, and create targeted tests for inference and training performance
- Ensure reliability on ambitious hardware infrastructure without designing new models
This is a role for someone who demands depth in how AI systems truly operate—not just abstract theory, but real-world performance, robustness, and correctness.

Engineers own outcomes, question assumptions, and continuously improve validation practices. The team moves fast but decision-making is evidence-based, rooted in benchmark data and technical rigor.
You’ll collaborate closely across software, infrastructure, and hardware teams. Squads align around priorities, but engineers have autonomy to shape test strategies and raise quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong credentials in Machine Learning or ML-adjacent software engineering
- Deep understanding of neural network architectures, training/inference trade-offs, numerical precision, and performance optimisations
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Triton, or equivalent ML frameworks
- Python expertise (automation, scripted experiments, benchmarking, reporting)
- Ability to design, execute, and analyse ML benchmarks
- Linux debugging skill with curiosity about model execution and system intricacy
