Job Title: Senior Engineer (Systems Process, Governance & Maturity)

Location: Barrow-in-Furness or Filton

Salary: Up to £49,000 depending on experience

Job Description

As a member of the SSNA Whole Boat (Product Architecture and Integration) team, your role is responsible for providing specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise in the development of engineering Processes. Identify the need for, develop, communicate, and maintain processes supporting the entire engineering lifecycle. You’ll understand and articulate the impact of their processes on other areas of the functional and wider business. Along with understanding and articulating the role of Governance within and beyond Engineering. You’ll conduct independent Assurance activities to ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the correct tools and documentation and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority.

Core Duties

  • You will support the development of Platform Design maturity and delivery through the design and build stages of the lifecycle
  • You will support the documentation of domain knowledge of Process, Governance and Maturity and be able to pass on information and experience in order to help grow the knowledge base within appropriate business teams
  • You will work with other engineers and support the engineering management team in planning and controlling specialist activities that relate to Process, Governance & Maturity

Essential Skills

  • You will hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a STEM-related field
  • You will have experience in Process, Governance, and Maturity practices, preferably within the defence sector
  • You will be familiar with the engineering lifecycle, including direct experience in one or more phases in a Systems Engineering role, as well as an understanding of the broader engineering process
  • You will bring a good technical understanding of how your work in the Process, Governance and Maturity role contributes to the overall product, platform, or programme

The SSNA Whole Boat (Product Architecture And Integration) Team

You will work with other engineers in developing engineering processes for the design and delivery of the SSN AUKUS submarine platform.

The team you will be joining plays a critical role in defining engineering design policies and initiatives, including for major platform-level design reviews, and integrating the design efforts of system and transversal oriented teams into a coherent warfighting platform at defined maturity levels throughout the delivery stages of the engineering life cycle.

You will have an opportunity to work on complex engineering and testing projects, joining a team that will likely be growing rapidly, allowing for development opportunities.

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
