Role Summary
A senior engineering role focused on the quality and continuous improvement of testing practices and facilities, supporting Smart Utilities Networks (SUN) and Media & Broadcast (M&B) with end-to-end testing of a growing number of products.
The role sets the standards for testing and test lab management practices and manages the roadmap of improvement activities.
Location: Crawley Court, Winchester with regular visits to Chalfont
Driving Licence required

Key Accountabilities
- Increase speed and confidence in product releases by optimising test practices, driving innovation and automation into processes and tools.
- Lower the cost of testing by reducing test cycle times and expanding the capability to test remotely.
- Build relationships with product and delivery stakeholders and promote “shift left” engagement with test teams.
- Contribute to test strategies and planning to ensure test facilities and resources align with customer delivery expectations.
- Assess test lab facilities for safety, capability, security and reliability.
- Assess test lab, test assurance and testing processes for efficiency and effectiveness, identifying areas of waste.
- Manage risks related to test labs, test tools and test practices
- Define and document recovery and continuity processes to optimise the availability of test tools and facilities.
- Identify and prioritise areas for improvement in line with business strategies.
- Elicit requirements from stakeholders to support design and delivery of new or enhanced test tools and facilities.
- Manage improvement plans to test processes, test tools and test automation frameworks that ensure speed, safety, quality, reliability and innovation is embedded into testing across all products.
- Promote agile ways of working in the test team to improve ways of working
- Create and manage tasks relating to test quality, test lab management, automation and robotics
- Act as a deputy for the Senior Test and Release Manager in their absence

Essential role delivery experience required
- Understanding of testing principles and tools
- Experience using agile delivery practices
- Experience of continuous improvement practices
- Experience working on projects that range from large contract-prescribed test requirements to small innovative initiatives that drive incremental improvements
- Demonstrates curiosity to delve into test practices and identify opportunities for improvement and automation
- Demonstrates attention to detail and regulatory requirements.
Desired role delivery experience:
- Experience of test automation frameworks and robotics
- Experience working in product development
- Experience working with build or test teams working on networks or connectivity
- Aptitude for IT and connectivity in a business environment
- Curious and collaborative approach to problem solving
- Experience working in a small team with a wide scope of responsibility.

- Computer Science, Information Technology or Business Analysis Level 5 qualification (or equivalent).
- ISTQB Foundation
