A leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join its FX technology team and help drive the evolution of a business-critical global FX pricing and payments platform.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a senior technologist who combines deep engineering expertise with strong architectural thinking and a solid understanding of FX markets. You'll play a key role in shaping the technical direction of a platform used across multiple regions while working closely with product, business, and technology stakeholders.
You'll be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, providing architectural leadership, and driving the delivery of strategic enhancements to a globally distributed FX platform.
The platform supports a range of foreign exchange products and is undergoing significant growth, including expansion into new markets, connectivity partners, and product offerings. This role offers the opportunity to influence technology strategy while remaining close to engineering and delivery.

What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the technical design and evolution of a high-volume, business-critical FX platform.
- Provide architectural guidance and recommendations on technology direction, design patterns, scalability, and resiliency.
- Work closely with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and system performance.
- Mentor and coach developers through code reviews, technical leadership, and knowledge sharing.
- Support Agile delivery, estimation, planning, and solution design activities.
- Partner with support and infrastructure teams to ensure successful releases and platform stability.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Extensive software engineering experience within a complex, regulated enterprise environment.
- Strong Java development background, including Spring, Hibernate, and REST/Open API frameworks.
- Experience designing and building distributed, scalable systems.
- Front-end development experience using Angular, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle databases and SQL.
- Experience with messaging technologies, integration patterns, and API-driven architectures.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Knowledge of FX products, including Spot, Forwards, and NDFs.

- Competitive base salary circa £120,000
- Bonus: 10–15% discretionary bonus, based on company performance
