Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure
Laravel is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our all-remote Laravel Cloud Infrastructure environment devoted to transforming the developer experience globally. We move beyond software creation—we cultivate a world-class infrastructure foundation, nurturing the team that makes it possible.
Mission and Role Summary We’re tackling visionary infrastructure challenges, seeking a skilled leader to propel the organization toward that mission. This role covers:
- Leadership development for Engineering Team Leads
- Technical guidance across multiple teams
- Culture-building for an environment where engineers thrive
You’ll head our Infrastructure team, responsible for our Laravel Cloud platform—a fully managed infrastructure for developers seeking to rapidly deploy ideas, optimized for Laravel and PHP.
About the Role
As Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll:
- Lead four Engineering Team Leads, each owning specialized areas and senior engineering teams.
- Oversight spans Kubernetes (EKS), AWS, networking, storage, observability, and internal services.
- Manage Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), covering on-call, incident response, and reliability engineering for availability and performance.
You’ll collaborate across product, engineering, and leadership to deliver a developer-friendly platform, ensuring technical excellence, operational maturity, and organizational health.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a distributed team of Engineering Team Leads.
- Define standards for managing and growing teams through the leads.
- Cultivate a culture focused on autonomy, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate career development via 1:1s, goal-setting, and ongoing feedback.
- Partner with leadership to align strategy, resources, and roadmaps with the infrastructure organization.
- Ensure platform reliability, availability, and performance, including SRE practices (on-call, incident response, SLOs/SLIs).
- Drive adoption of infrastructure best practices (e.g., GitOps, Infrastructure as Code).
- Shape technical requirements with product teams.
- Communicate priorities and decisions with leads, engineers, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders to refine platform workflows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
