We are on a mission to pioneer the world’s next era of play.

As we grow across Europe and Latin America, we’re building The Playstack - the technology powering the next generation of sports, gaming, and fan experiences. Join us, and help make it the most widely used platform in the world! From operations, to marketing, to product, we are looking for talented people who will shape how millions of customers play, watch, and connect every day.

Senior Engineering Manager – Payment Experience

As Senior Engineering Manager – Payment Experience, you will lead two stream-aligned squads — Cards Experience and Cashier Experience — within the Transact tribe, working towards one vision: "Right payment. Right method. Right moment." This is a full-stack leadership role spanning card PSP integrations and 3DS routing through to frontend performance and native release trains, sitting at the centre of customer trust and conversion, where speed, approval rates, and reliability matter as much as feature delivery. Cards Experience owns end-to-end card journeys representing close to half of global deposit volume, whilst Cashier Experience owns the Player Cashier platform that every payment squad builds on.

What the role involves

  • Lead two cross-functional squads across backend, frontend, native iOS/Android, and QA, delivering the card payment experience and the Player Cashier platform while keeping ownership boundaries clear and dependencies low.
  • Drive predictable delivery and strong engineering hygiene across web, native, and backend release paths, including definition of done, testing expectations, and release readiness.
  • Own and evolve the full-stack systems behind both squads, guiding Cards decisions across PSP integrations, card token vaulting with 3DS, 3DS strategy, traffic routing management, fraud integration boundaries, and decline-recovery flows.
  • Guide Cashier decisions across the Player Cashier frontend platform, the "golden development path", web performance and TTI optimisation, embedded micro-cashier journeys, native alignment, and personalisation foundations.
  • Establish and operate a pragmatic RFC/ADR process for architectural changes, ensuring decisions are documented, reviewed, and reversible where possible.
  • Own production excellence across the domain, including observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and Sentry; end-to-end payment-journey traceability; incident management and post-incident reviews; and reporting pipelines to Snowflake/DWH for approval-rate, cost, and conversion reporting.
  • Champion safe delivery across environments from Dev to QA, Stage, and Prod, with clear rollout plans, feature-flagging, and verification for continuous frontend deployment and native release cadences alike.
  • Partner with adjacent Transact squads and functions, including Alternative Payments, Payment Platform, Core Wallet, and Fraud teams, as well as Product, Design, Markets, Partnerships, and a single shared Product Manager on provider selection, market launches, and tight cross-squad coordination.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience leading teams that build customer-facing, correctness-critical systems, such as payments, cashier/checkout, fintech, e-commerce conversion, or similar.
  • Comfort leading full-stack teams, with a firm bar for both backend integration design and frontend/native experience quality and performance.
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to reason about integration state machines, retries, idempotency, routing, failure modes, and reconciliation.
  • A track record of improving conversion, approval rates, or performance through measurable, data-driven work.
  • Experience improving operational maturity, including SLOs, observability, on-call health, incident response, and continuous reliability work.
  • A history of partnering effectively with Product, Design, and commercial stakeholders while balancing experience, cost, and time-to-market.
  • Strong AI proficiency, with the ability to push teams to build with agentic AI, understand where AI-assisted engineering can improve delivery, quality, operations, and customer experience, and set a high bar for practical adoption rather than experimentation for its own sake.

Nice to have

  • Experience with payments platforms, card processing, 3DS/SCA, PSP integrations, token vaulting, or multi-jurisdiction compliance constraints.
  • Experience owning a frontend platform, such as design systems, golden paths, performance budgets, embedded/iframe journeys, or micro-frontend architectures used by multiple squads.
  • Experience with native mobile delivery across iOS/Android alongside web.
  • Experience modernising and migrating experiences market-by-market whilst maintaining business continuity.
  • Experience introducing personalisation or experimentation into a customer journey.
  • Experience adopting agentic AI or AI-assisted engineering practices in production teams, including coding agents, workflow automation, AI-enabled observability, or internal developer productivity improvements.
