Senior Environmental Advisor
Location: Infrastructure South – Hybrid - Thames Valley Region - Oxford
We are looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our Infrastructure team, supporting the successful delivery of our Thames Water AMP8 programme across the South.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring environmental excellence across major infrastructure projects. Working closely with project teams from pre-construction through to completion, you will provide expert environmental advice, promote sustainable working practices and help deliver positive outcomes for our clients, communities and the environment.
As part of our ESG team, you will work collaboratively with operational teams, clients, regulators and supply chain partners to ensure environmental compliance, drive continual improvement and support the delivery of industry-leading environmental performance.
Key Duties
- Provide environmental advice and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, contractual requirements and company standards.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring, identifying opportunities for continual improvement and driving best practice across projects.
- Prepare and support key environmental documentation, including Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), Waste Management Plans, permits and consents.
- Build strong relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders while delivering environmental training, toolbox talks and supporting incident investigations.
- Promote sustainability, environmental innovation and continuous improvement, supporting ISO 14001 compliance and the ongoing development of our Environmental Management System.

About You
You will be an enthusiastic environmental professional with experience supporting construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
You will bring:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in an Environmental Advisor or similar role within construction, infrastructure or civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, environmental permitting and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Experience carrying out environmental inspections, audits and risk assessments, with the confidence to influence positive change on site.
- Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, along with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across project sites.
