Our Environmental Consents & Engagement (ECE) practice provides strategic environmental advice, consenting expertise, and stakeholder engagement to enable the successful delivery of major developments across the UK.

Senior Environmental Consultant
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences, and consents. You will play a critical role in protecting the environment and driving collaborative environmental performance across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision and Compliance
- Undertake site inspections of work areas to relay observations.
- Report environmental issues where necessary.
- Advise on and oversee remedial actions.

Ecological Surveys and Monitoring
- Provide on-site ecological guidance to contractors and project teams.
- Conduct walkover surveys, ecological assessments, and species-specific inspections.

Reporting and Documentation
- Offer written and verbal advice on environmental legislation, permits, and planning constraints.
- Prepare daily site logs, compliance reports, and ecological monitoring records.
- Compile environmental performance data for site activities.

Compliance Support
- Support compliance with environmental legislation.
- Ensure environmental protection equipment is accurately demonstrated and maintained.

Project Support and Coordination
- Assist with planning and coordinating environmental deliverables.
- Support senior ecologists in meeting project objectives.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure effective understanding and implementation of environmental requirements.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for environmental/ecological matters.

Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
- Review and update the EMP to guarantee adherence to regulations.

Internal Audits
- Assist in self-assessment and internal audits to verify compliance with legislation, processes, and environmental best practices.
Requirements

Experience:
- Proven experience in an Environmental Management role, including onsite environmental and ecological experience.
- Knowledge of UK environmental legislation related to construction or industrial installations, and accompanying guidance and best practices.
- Experience conducting fieldwork and supervising activities in sensitive habitats.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and possess strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

Technical Competencies:
- Operational expertise within an environmental management system conforming to the BS EN ISO14001:2015 standard.
- Awareness of Contractor/Client relationships and legal responsibilities under the [Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007].

- Certifications and Qualifications:
- A degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or science/engineering-related discipline is essential.
- A full UK or EU driving licence is required.
- Willingness to travel to remote or active construction sites.
