Your new role
Reporting to the Senior EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the compliant execution of all technical operations related to health, safety, and sustainability systems across the European Knowledge Centre (EKC) facility in Hatfield.
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee technical activities within pharmaceutical manufacturing, research, and commercial areas. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring that Eisai’s technical operations and systems meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements, company procedures, and operational maintenance protocols. The role also supports the continuous improvement of compliance documentation for both Eisai and its specialist suppliers/sub-contractors, ensuring ongoing alignment with statutory, contractual, and internal standards.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience of both Engineering and EHS compliance - statutory, mandatory, and best practice guidance - essential
- Delivery of activities to support operational excellence and continuous improvement - essential
- Ability to contribute to planning activities with horizons of typically 6 months to one year - essential
- Operates within agreed operational and/or management guidelines - essential
- Demonstrated knowledge of process safety, permit to work, and contractor management systems - essential
- Strong understanding of UK CDM Regulations, PUWER, LOLER, and other relevant legislation - essential
- Experience with LOTO, risk assessment methodologies, and safety control systems - essential
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies - desirable
- Previous experience working in a GMP / GLP or highly regulated industry - desirable
- Registered Engineering qualification (CEng / IEng / Eng Tech) – desirable
- Educated to ‘A’ level standard/ONC/HNC standard.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Relevant technical qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a pharmaceutical or GMP / GLP environment.
- Demonstrated experience in an EHS or Engineering role within a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical or chemical sector preferred)
