SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist or Environmental Scientist to join our established Hydrology & Hydrogeology team, delivering high-profile water environment and hydrogeological assessment projects. This position is aimed at someone with 5yrs plus experience to come in at Senior, Associate, or Principal level.

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London or Stoke, the role will focus primarily on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), hydrogeological investigations, water environment assessments and abstraction licensing, with additional exposure to construction environmental management, groundwater permitting, as well as a small amount of wider environmental work spanning renewables, infrastructure, power, industrial and built environment sectors.

The Role

Role

You’ll lead the delivery of water environment and hydrogeology projects from planning through to detailed assessment and reporting, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Project and technical leadership across EIA water chapters, hydrogeological assessments and monitoring programmes
  • Client management and proposal support, helping build strong relationships and repeat work
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced scientists and hydrogeologists
  • Desk-based analysis and reporting, alongside site visits across the UK, including walkovers, monitoring installations and hydraulic testing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
