About Us

City Gate Construction is a privately owned main contractor established in 2003, delivering construction, refurbishment and maintenance services across Scotland and England. Headquartered in Paisley, we have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability and customer service, supported by a skilled in-house workforce, a collaborative culture and a commitment to continuous improvement. With experience across both public and private sectors, we continue to grow our project portfolio and are looking to strengthen our commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Estimator.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Senior Estimator to join our commercial team in Paisley. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play a key role in securing profitable new business across a range of construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects. You will lead the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission, working closely with internal stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers to produce accurate, competitive and well-considered tenders. As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to estimating strategy, mentor junior colleagues where appropriate, and help drive continuous improvement across the function.

A key part of the role is aligning with the business strategy of being disciplined and selective in our approach to bidding. Identifying and prioritising bid opportunities that are commercially viable, operationally deliverable and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
