Senior European Road Freight Operator
Salary: Up to A GBP 40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Location: Suffolk
Position: Full-time, Permanent: Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP
About The Role
Our client, a leading independently owned freight company specialising in European logistics and road freight solutions, is currently seeking an experienced Senior European Road Freight Operator to join their team based in Suffolk.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and knowledgeable European Road Freight professional who has strong operational experience across import and export movements between the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day running of European road freight operations, working closely with customers, suppliers, hauliers and internal teams to ensure a high-quality service is delivered from start to finish.
What You'll Do
The role will involve handling European road freight movements across markets including France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Hungary. You will be responsible for planning, organising and managing shipments, negotiating rates, sourcing transport solutions and ensuring customer expectations are met and exceeded.

Main Responsibilities
- Managing European road freight import and export shipments from start to finish
- Planning, organising and coordinating daily European transport operations
- Maintaining and developing strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and hauliers
- Negotiating rates with customers and suppliers
- Monitoring transport rates, market changes and operational requirements
- Sub-contracting haulage requirements and managing transportation bookings
- Preparing quotations and ensuring costs are controlled effectively
- Supporting the smooth running of the European road freight department
- Increasing productivity while maintaining service quality and minimising unnecessary costs
- Providing a high level of customer service and operational support
What You Need
- Strong experience within European Road Freight Forwarding
- Good knowledge of European import and export road freight operations
- Strong understanding of rates, suppliers, hauliers and European transport markets
- Confident handling shipments from start to finish
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Able to work well as part of a team and under own initiative
- Good computer literacy
- A European language would be advantageous, but is not essential
