Shape and deliver market-leading events for the financial services industry, leading a talented team and building lasting relationships with senior stakeholders.

Role overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Event Manager to take ownership of the strategic and operational delivery of its prestigious financial services events portfolio.

Leading a team of event professionals, you'll oversee the full event lifecycle, build strong relationships with clients, sponsors and industry stakeholders, and ensure every event is delivered to the highest standards.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially aware and people-focused events leader to make a significant impact within a well-established, high-growth events business.

What you'll do

  • Lead the delivery of Owen James events, managing the full lifecycle from planning through to post-event review.
  • Lead, support and develop the Events Team, including three direct reports.
  • Own event plans, timelines and delivery standards, ensuring high-quality execution across all events.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, sponsors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Build strong client relationships and ensure objectives, priorities and deliverables are achieved.
  • Represent Owen James at events, delivering an exceptional experience for sponsors, delegates and partners.
  • Oversee all event logistics, including venues, production, AV, branding, entertainment and supplier management.
  • Review and approve key event documentation, contracts and marketing materials.
  • Ensure all events reflect Owen James brand standards and quality expectations.
  • Maintain accurate project plans, systems and documentation to support effective event delivery.
  • Work with technology partners to deliver seamless registration and virtual event experiences.
  • Manage event budgets, invoicing and commercial performance.
  • Provide reporting, insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and event experiences.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 8+ years' experience delivering high-quality events, ideally within a B2B environment.
  • Proven experience leading, developing and motivating a successful team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build confidence, accountability and high performance.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging senior industry leaders.
  • A highly organised approach and the ability to establish effective processes and ways of working.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional event experiences.
  • Experience using event technology, CRM systems, registration platforms and digital event tools.
  • Commercial awareness, including budget management and supplier oversight.
  • The ability to analyse event data and insights to drive continuous improvement and future success.

Important to know:

Location:

You will work alongside the Events Team in our London office two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), with flexibility to work remotely on other days.

While your office base will be London you'll need to be able to visit our Godalming head office at least once a month.

Owen James delivers approximately 40 in-person events each year, primarily in London, and attendance at these events is an essential part of the role. Some events involve early starts, so being within reasonable commuting distance of London is required.
