The Role
In this embedded team capacity, the Senior Event Technician will represent FIRST at a well-known technology company, leading mid-to-complex event production with expertise in:
- Audio/Video (A/V)
- Staging & Lighting
- Production Design
Your primary focus: ensuring seamless, scalable technical executions that deliver exceptional experiences for attendees, partners, and staff—while maintaining operational efficiency and reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Studio Operations:
- Maintain a clean, operational event production studio daily.
- Ensure tech teams’ readiness for all assigned events.
- Event Production Leadership:
- Coordinate technical requests across teams to align with client expectations.
- Act as technical lead for assigned events, troubleshooting A/V workflows and system failures.
- Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) on studio capabilities (LED walls, rigging, lighting, video, audio) for external partners.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Update and maintain detailed documentation of studio specs and workflows.
- Enforce facility rules for external agencies/production companies.
- Collaboration & Training:
- Train junior technicians and mentor team members.
- Partner with show callers, technical directors, and vendors to execute technical cues flawlessly.
- Innovation & Problem-Solving:
- Identify gaps in technical delivery and propose improvements based on client feedback/industry trends.
- Streamline operations by optimizing systems and processes.
- Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Align with engineering, AV, and creative teams to ensure event success.
- Provide technical support during event execution—hands-on when necessary.

Requirements
Essential
- 5–7 years of experience in live event production, video switching, and technical direction for corporate/live experiential events.
- Deep technical expertise in:
- Audio/Video systems, including signal flow, processing, and live mixing.
- Lighting control systems (ETC Ion preferred).
- LED walls & mapping software (Ventuz, WATCHOUT).
- Staging and rigging (power distribution, safety compliance).
- Proficient in:
- Operating large-format AV systems (Dante, Clear-Com, Crestron, Shure Wireless Workbench).
- Live video switching (avb Mix-Plus, Queue, etc.).
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, hardware/software protocols).
- Streaming technologies (encoders, codecs like H.264/5).
- Technical troubleshooting (reading schematics, event layouts).
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication—ability to translate technical details for non-experts.
- Customer service mindset—building trust with clients and vendors.
- Prioritisation & time management in fast-paced environments.
- Collaboration—seamless integration with internal/external teams.
- Problem-solving—quick decision-making under pressure.
- Fluency in English (essential for client interactions).
Desired
- Experience with:
- Panasonic PTZ cameras (Ag enda).
- Media ingest servers (Vimeo OTT, Frame.io).
- Design tools (Final Cut ProX, Keynote).
- Cloud platforms (Google G-Suite, Encore’s enterprise systems).
- Portfolio demonstrating hands-on event production expertise (e.g., dioc integration, technical articles, specs).
- Upward mobility—ability to flex into lead/managerial roles as needed.
