We are currently recruiting a Senior Executive Assessment Delivery for two Fixed term contracts.
12-month maternity cover starting August 2026
Fixed term contract ending December 2027
This role is hybrid, both working from home and in our Oxford hub with weekly attendance in the office (more in exam sessions).
We encourage our colleagues to work flexibly between home and the hub to suit their needs and preferences, in line with our hybrid working policy. Colleagues are able to work their hours flexibly, in line with core business hours and requirements. We also offer formalised flexible working agreements.
The starting salary is £42,655

Purpose of Job
The Senior Executive plays a key role in delivering the assessment processes within specified time limits. The post holder will ensure the learners of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) experience a fair and consistent assessment service whilst maintaining the integrity of the qualifications offered.
Working with the examiners and IFoA colleagues the post holder will manage several assessments within the remit of the team. This includes the preparation of the assessment and supporting materials through to checking, reporting and analysis of the assessment results to support the Board meetings and subsequent release of these to the IFoA learners, ensuring they are accurately reflected in the IFoA database.
Principal Accountabilities
- To be responsible for the set-up and configuration of the internal database, exam platform and marking platform, ensuring all data is accurate and validated.
- To support the Assessment Delivery Manager in the authoring of the exam questions onto the exam platform, ensuring that the process is carried out within the required timeframes and to the set standards. Liaise with colleagues involved in this process and ensure they understand the deadlines they must work to.
- To support the Assessment Delivery Manager in handling the more complex access arrangement cases as defined by the Equality Act 2010. To liaise with candidates and ensure they are provided with the agreed support whilst ensuring that the candidate is not placed at any advantage over other candidates.
- To liaise with external occupational therapists to deliver a supportive experience for candidates sitting the IFoA assessments.
- To support the Assessment Delivery Manager in the delivery of the assessments, ensuring that the process is carried out within the required timeframes and to the set standards. Liaise with any external providers or personnel involved in this process and ensure they understand what their responsibilities are and the deadlines they must work to.
- To provide 2nd line support to candidates, external suppliers and invigilators during live examinations. Providing guidance on, but not limited to, complex student queries, issues concerning academic aspects of the assessment, regulations, marking schemes and criteria, syllabus, and results.
- To support the collation of exam marking to ensure that examiners can produce the results information within set deadlines. To analyse live marking and the results received and check for accuracy, ensuring identified anomalies are corrected prior to marking deadlines.
- To collate the documentation required for the Board of Examiners and Mitigating Circumstances panel meetings. Ensure the statistics produced are accurate and within the required deadlines.
- To support the delivery of the processes that ensure that candidates receive results, transcripts, and other information within the agreed timescales. Checking sensitive information before it is released to safeguard the reputation of the IFoA.
- To analyse the performance of assessment systems, processes, and procedures, proposing improvement recommendations where necessary.
- To coordinate and participate in system development, and associated testing protocols, to ensure operational readiness of all platforms that support exam delivery.

Decision-Making and Complexity
The post holder will be required to make decisions during live examinations to provide guidance to 1st line support and live invigilators. They must determine both the initial allocation of marking teams and manage any subsequent dropouts to ensure that the IFoA can meet the required timeframes, and will make recommendations for changes to these processes and where training for education supporters may be required. The post holder is required to analyse the performance of core assessment processes and make recommendations for change, training and review, and to propose new processes if required to meet the changing needs of the assessment delivery process. They must handle data within GDPR guidelines, understanding when and where this data can be shared. The post holder must be able to prioritise and manage their workload independently within general guidelines, using judgement to resolve queries and escalate issues which require further attention. They must be able to convey complex information via a variety of methods to individuals and groups at all levels in a manner that engages the audience, and manage and manipulate large data sets to ensure the delivery of results and supporting management information within agreed deadlines. Any errors relating to the assessment area are very high profile and tend to attract attention from high-level committees and volunteers and potentially external stakeholders such as the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) and employers.

Additional Dimensions
- There are over 15,000 learners registered to sit IFoA assessments. There are 26 assessments which run twice a year plus a further 3 assessments which can be sat throughout the year, all of which must be added accurately onto the exam platforms in sufficient time for the assessment to take place on the agreed date.
- The role carries responsibility for the accuracy of assessment data for learners entered onto internal and external platforms, working with external suppliers and IFoA colleagues to deliver all key assessment processes within the agreed dates.
- There are over 400 external examiners and markers that support this work, whom the post holder will be engaging with.
- Travel to main location approximately once a week. Travel to other locations and events will be required (approximately twice a year with occasional overnight stays). The role requires some out-of-hours working during the exam sessions and the following weeks to support the delivery of the assessment and results (approximately 6 weeks in total, twice a year)
