Senior Executive, Finance & Actuarial
Introduction to the Role
This is a high-profile role that shapes how finance and actuarial practices evolve across the Lloyd’s market. Acting as a trusted bridge between market participants and the Corporation of Lloyd’s, it leads the design and delivery of market-wide initiatives that improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency of finance and actuarial functions in the market.
The role also provides a unique opportunity to influence how the capital efficiency and financial performance components of the Lloyd’s 2026 strategy are interpreted and implemented, helping to deliver tangible benefits to the Lloyd’s market.
Unlike in-house roles, this position provides visibility across the entire Lloyd’s market, offering direct engagement with CFOs, Chief Actuaries, and senior stakeholders, and access to market-wide financial and actuarial insights.
Introduction to the Lloyd's Market Association (LMA)
The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) represents the interests of all 56 Lloyd’s managing agents and all Lloyd’s members’ agents, who together underwrite approximately £56.2 billion of risk in 2025.
The purpose of the LMA is to make the market a better place and in so doing, maintain the Lloyd’s market’s position as the pre-eminent leader in specialty and commercial risk. We sit at the centre of the Lloyd’s market, a world-leading global marketplace for complex risk.
We seek to make the market a better place in five fundamental ways. First, we advocate on behalf of our members with key stakeholders, including governments, regulators, and the Corporation of Lloyd’s. Second, our work spans technical and professional support, from developing model policy wordings to providing guidance on regulatory and legislative requirements.
Third, our award-winning LMA Academy is one of the leading providers of Lloyd’s technical training in the market, supporting the ongoing development of underwriting, claims, finance, risk, and operations professionals. Fourth, we drive forward a digitalisation agenda for the market, and fifth, we are strong advocates of advancing the market’s inclusive culture.
Collaboration is at the core of what we do. We engage closely with our members to understand and tackle the issues that matter most, and we partner with Lloyd’s and other market associations to help shape the future of the marketplace.
Job Purpose
The role leads industry committees, convening subject matter experts to generate data-led insight. It identifies key friction points across the market and translates them into practical, consensus-driven solutions that deliver measurable improvements for managing agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and shape high-impact LMA committees and working groups, bringing together senior finance and actuarial leaders across the Lloyd’s market to drive meaningful change. This includes setting clear objectives and agendas that focus on the issues that matter most, orchestrating insightful discussions with leading external experts, and ensuring outcomes translate into tangible action. The role is accountable for maintaining momentum, supporting Chairs, capturing decisions, and driving follow-through so that committee activity delivers genuine improvements.
- Build and leverage a strong and credible network across the Lloyd’s market, developing trusted relationships with finance and actuarial leaders in managing agents and at the Corporation. Using insight into market challenges and priorities, the role identifies where collective action can deliver the greatest market-wide impact.
- Own and deliver high-impact market initiatives, operating with a high degree of autonomy to drive projects that shape how the Lloyd’s market operates in practice, influencing approaches to reporting, capital, and financial performance across managing agents. This includes securing alignment and approvals across LMA leadership and committees, managing budgets effectively, and ensuring delivery against clear objectives. The role leads the LMA contribution to key projects such as Reporting Rationalisation, Capital Transformation, and Investment Asset Infrastructure.
- Generate market-leading financial insight, leveraging syndicate-level data and broader market intelligence to provide a unique, cross-market perspective on performance, trends, and emerging issues. The role translates complex data into clear, compelling analysis and delivers this to the market through high-quality reports and presentations.
- Support and strengthen the LMA’s financial management, partnering closely with the Finance & Risk Director to ensure robust planning, effective budget management, and effective and appropriate use of LMA resources.
- Champion a high-performing, inclusive team culture, fostering strong collaboration, open communication, and shared ownership, both internally and across the market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
