About the Role

Senior Experimentation Manager, based at VML [part of WPP Enterprise Solutions] in Sydney, Australia.

At VML, we combine brand experience, customer experience, and commerce in ways that drive meaningful, measurable growth for some of the world’s most recognisable brands (The Coca-Cola Company, Ford, Dell, AstraZeneca, Nestlé and more). We’re looking for a highly organised, meticulous, and data-driven Senior Experimentation Manager to oversee the hands-on execution of experimentation-led growth initiatives. This role requires technical precision, systemic thinking, and a commitment to delivering flawless, business-impacting results through structured, scalable experimentation frameworks.

This is a permanent role, reporting into the Experimentation Lead within the Enterprise Solutions division—one of the fastest-growing units at VML, home to 4,200+ experts across 55 markets. You’ll ensure that A/B tests, personalisation experiments, and growth optimisations are flawlessly executed, rigorously analysed, and communicated to stakeholders to drive concrete business impact. Collaborative, curious, and commercial by nature, you’ll be part of a team shaping groundbreaking digital commerce and marketing solutions with a measurable ROI of +$29bn per year for our clients.


Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Execution of Global Experimentation Initiatives

  • Drive the day-to-day tactical execution of the client’s global testing roadmap, ensuring experiments are launched, monitored, and delivered on schedule.
  • Apply deep knowledge of the client’s business challenges to support high-impact, data-driven growth opportunities identified by the Experimentation Lead.
  • Own project timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation for experimentation initiatives, utilising agile/waterfall methodologies to ensure on-time, in-scope delivery.
  • Rigorously track testing throughput, ROI, and resource efficiency per established guidelines, reporting results via comprehensive performance dashboards for the Experimentation Lead and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain proactive stakeholder engagement, including global global regions, securing alignment on experimentation planning, execution progress, and results.

Technical Implementation & Fast Iteration

  • Execute and refine Experimentation-Led Growth (ELG) frameworks, methodologies, and platform configurations as directed by the Experimentation Lead.
  • Collaborate with data science, engineering, and client entities to design, build, and optimise experiments tailored to key business metrics (e.g., conversion rates, engagement, churn).
  • Scale infrastructure for continuous testing, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and velocity. Leverage experience with latency-safe experimentation, automation, and retesting processes.
  • Translate complex experimental data into clear, actionable findings and prioritisation scores for the** Experimentation Lead**, translating into strategic recommendations.

Platform & Technology Ownership

  • Execute technical planning, setup, and launch of experimentation programmes, commanding expertise across:
    • Experimentation platforms (Optimizely, Adobe Target, etc):
    • Advanced experimentation strategies (server-side testing, multivariate testing, statistical inference).
    • Analytics suites (Google Analytics 4, Amplitude):
      • Event tracking, custom segmentation, and advanced reporting to reflect experiment impact.
    • Customer data platforms (Segment, Tealium):
      • Data ingestion, unification, audience segmentation, and activation workflows.
  • Configure integrations between experimentation platforms, CDPs, and data warehouses, ensuring seamless data flow and dynamic audience testing.
  • Continuously benchmark and gather tool requirements to deliver the fastest, most robust experimentation stack.

Deep Technical Mastery

✔ Advanced expertise in experimentation platforms (e.g., Optimizely, Adobe Target) including setup, interpretation, and server-side execution. ✔ Analytics proficiency (GA4, Adobe Analytics, Amplitude, supervised data science): understanding analytical testing frameworks, funnels, and statistical bookkeeping for both conversion and engagement. ✔ Experience with Customer Data Platforms configuring data ingestion, segmentation, and dynamic-testing audiences. ✔ ** solide grasp of modern data stacks** (Snowflake, Data Studio, dbt) and **pipelines-to-relational(E reflects roles that manage data pipelines, governance, and infrastructure reliability—skills to ensure experiment-grade data quality.

Execution-First Leadership

✔ Proven track record of launching and scaling complex experiments worldwide. ✔ Nimble project management: leading experiments within shared agile/resource ratios, dealing with unexpected risks and mitigating dependencies while maintaining velocity without sacrificing quality. ✔ Process ownership for delivering repeatable frameworks (from folder structures to standardised reporting) — ensuring "physics-first" delivery (get it right when it matters most).

Data Algebra & Commercial Impact

✔ Statistical fluency—confident with Bayesian and frequentist approaches, balancing efficiency with pricing/power constraints. ✔ ROI instinct: demonstrates ability to tie quantitative (conversion lift) and qualitative insights (sentiment validation) to **t Tangible adopting business impact (e.g., "Free Trail Ahead Recommendations result in 16% higher activation"). ✔ Performance storytelling — clear communication of data narratives for technical and non-technical stakeholders (client execs,CMOs all the way up to procurement hats).
