Position Description
The Barrick Africa & Middle East Exploration Team is proud to be home to leading technical experts. It combines the resources of a global, multibillion-dollar company with local, discovery-driven teams operating in many of the most prospective, world-class Au and Cu exploration districts.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Exploration Geologist / District Geologist to join our team within our operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo - Kibali District.
We are seeking an engaged, field and discovery-focused Senior Exploration Geologist / District Geologist to facilitate the discovery of world-class orebodies in the Kibali District. The successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity to explore in world class gold districts and shape an expanding portfolio within the region. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Exploration Geologist will assist in desktop and field-based target evaluations, to rank, design and implement fit for purpose exploration programs, resulting in discovery of economically viable gold deposits that will positively impact Barrick’s growth. You will be supported by talented, multi-discipline colleagues within the Africa & Middle East region, exploration team, and global leadership.

Responsibilities
- Provide a strong contribution to Barrick’s safety culture and programs while encouraging and ensuring others do the same.
- Planning, supervision and execution of exploration field activities, including drilling, trenching, mapping, geophysics and geochemistry.
- Compile, clean, and analyse data to generate, develop and assess exploration targets.
- Strong collaboration with a technically skilled team to deliver Barrick’s exploration strategy and growth ambitions.
- Being a key technical leader in the exploration team, driving exploration and geological best practice in our work programs to deliver robust and high-quality geological target models.
- Developing regional, camp, and target-scale geological models including an understanding of lithology, stratigraphy, structure, alteration, and mineralisation.
- Support Barrick’s growth strategy by leading and/or contributing to competitor project due diligence reviews including technical, financial and legislative considerations.
- Collaborate within multi-disciplinary projects, including resources, mining, social and legal departments.
- Weekly, monthly, quality reporting to senior management, in the form of presentations and reports.
- Mentorship and development of exploration skills within the dominantly local geological team.
- Design and implementation of Standard Operating procedures.
- Monitor QA/QC procedures and ensure the integrity of all project datasets.
- Be prepared to travel extensively to field offices and project areas, on a FIFO roster.

Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology / Geoscience from a recognized institution.
- Advanced Degree (MSc / PhD) will be viewed favourably.
Experience and Skills Requirements
- At least 12 years’ experience in greenfield / brownfield exploration, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Senior Exploration Geologist or higher
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment.
- Experience in structurally controlled gold (or copper) deposits is required, with exposure to Precambrian deposits viewed favourably.
- Exposure to world-class exploration districts and Tier 1 ore bodies, with a track record of discovery seen advantageously.
- Firm understanding and recognition of mineralisation models and geological processes.
- A proactive, energetic professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and discovery-driven, with a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and leadership.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Geological / geophysical / geochemical interpretive and integration skills.
- Displayed ability to work within high performing, multidisciplinary, successful team.
- Demonstrated proficiency in GIS and 3D geological modelling software. Experience with ArcGIS, Leapfrog Geo, ioGAS is considered an asset.
- Ability to deliver concise technical and business focused presentations and reports in simple to understand format to a broad audience of cross functional peers and stakeholders required.
- Africa or Europe / Middle East based candidates are preferred.
