Senior Family Support Worker (Family Intensive Support) – Chorley & Lancaster

Salary: £36,363 – £40,777 per annum | Permanent | Full-time (37 hours per week)

About the Role

Are you an experienced practitioner eager to make a meaningful impact on vulnerable families? We are seeking two passionate, skilled Senior Family Support Workers (Family Intensive Support) to lead high-impact work in Chorley and Lancaster.

This is a unique opportunity where your leadership combined with hands-on practice transforms lives while shaping service excellence.


Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the delivery of Family Intensive Support (FIS) using a whole-family, strengths-based approach
  • Ensuring outstanding practice through modelling and supervision
  • Providing reflective supervision, guidance, and mentorship to Family Support Workers
  • Supporting high-quality assessments, planning, and interventions for measurable, positive outcomes
  • Enhancing team confidence and consistency by coaching and leading professional development

Your influence will shape both individual family trajectories and service-wide excellence.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

✔ Highly experienced in family support, safeguarding, and early intervention ✔ Proficient in whole-family assessments, evidence-based interventions, and strengths-based working ✔ Capable of leading, coaching, and developing staff at all levels ✔ Strong professional judgement and decision-making skills ✔ Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families

Key Requirements

  • You are experienced in senior family-focused roles
  • Strong understanding of relevant legal frameworks (e.g., Child Act, Safeguarding policy)
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively

Additional Notes

  • International sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • You will be required to apply for a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
  • You must have reliable transportation for duty (or, if disabled, accommodations will be considered).
