What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a disciplined, proactive, and compassionate Senior Farm Operative to support daily farm operations—ensuring bird welfare, biosecurity, efficiency, and high standards of hygiene. This hands-on role involves monitoring flock health, managing equipment, egg collection, cleaning, and maintaining farm records while balancing production targets and seasonal demands.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

(Note: This is not an exhaustive list.)

Farm Operations & Leadership

  • Assist the Farm Manager in planning, organising, and coordinating operations—both day-to-day duties and seasonal tasks.
  • Provide informal leadership to Farm Operatives and seasonal staff, offering guidance and support.
  • Monitor workflow, production performance, and compliance with welfare, safety, hygiene, and biosecurity standards.
  • Act as senior on-site contact in the Farm Manager’s absence, ensuring smooth, safe continuation of tasks.
  • Drive improvements in processes, efficiency, flock performance, and farm standards.

Flock Care & Egg Production

  • Support daily care of layer hens, ensuring health and welfare standards are met.
  • Monitor birds for signs of illness, injury, or behavioural changes, reporting concerns to the Farm Manager.
  • Assist with egg collection, grading, and recording production (including floor eggs, mortality rates).
  • Maintain optimal lighting, ventilation, and temperature in poultry houses.

Biosecurity & Animal Welfare

  • Champion strict biosecurity protocols: Correct clothing/shod changes, foot dips, and disinfection.
  • Ensure poultry houses and surroundings meet high welfare and cleanliness standards.
  • Handle birds safely and humanely in line with welfare regulations and company policies.

Feed & Nutrition Management

  • Check feed levels daily, reporting shortages/issues and assisting troubleshooting.
  • Support safe feed handling, storage, and transportation.
  • Monitor feeding systems and report equipment faults promptly.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
