I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, challenging constructively and finding practical solutions to complex business questions. You'll be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, managing competing priorities and communicating financial information in a way that supports confident decision-making across the organisation.
You'll likely bring:
- Experience from a finance business partnering, financial planning or commercial finance environment
- A recognised finance qualification such as ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Advanced Excel capability
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
While automotive experience is not essential, experience working within a project-based or engineering-led environment would be advantageous, as would exposure to ERP systems and large-scale business planning processes.

You'll gain exposure to major programmes, work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to decisions that support future vehicle development and business success.
