Senior Finance Analyst – Inventory & Supply Chain (Permanent, Full Time, Nottingham – Onsite)

At Boots Opticians, we’re seeking a Senior Finance Analyst – Inventory & Supply Chain to join our Controllership team, reporting to the Finance Manager – Working Capital, Margin & Cashflow. This is an opportunity to work across key business functions, including supply chain, trading, and finance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leverage your technical accounting skills to manage inventory recognition, movements, and supplier funding processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to optimise financial and operational processes.
- Support month-end reporting, budgeting, and forecasting across margin and supply chain cost centres.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately record sales, cost of sales, and inventory for month-end reporting.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas.
- Review inventory levels and assess necessary provisions.
- Manage returns-related inventory movements.
- Assist the finance manager in overseeing the supply chain cost centre.
- Work with supplier and commercial teams to deliver insightful, on-demand financial reports.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for cost of sales and supply chain.
- Aid external audits for your area of responsibility.
- Identify process improvements through automation opportunities.
- Assess and drive efficiency in workflows.

Must-Haves
- Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in management or financial accounting.
- Proven ability to deliver month-end processes under tight deadlines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of inventory accounting standards (IFRS & USGAAP).
- Strong communication skills to liaise with senior finance and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Capacity to proactively manage workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical critical thinking.
- Willingness to challenge processes and apply accounting expertise to enhance workflows.
- Essential: Advanced Excel skills.
Bonus Points
- Experience with SAP PEC or Power BI.
- Retail industry experience with emphasis on inventory management.
- Hands-on experience in management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
