About The Team & The Role
This role sits within Operations, Supply Chain & Stock Finance, a team responsible for end-to-end operational oversight: from stock inbounding to the management of fulfilment and last-mile costs and performance.
Key Focus
The Finance Operations team closely partners with internal Operations and Ocado Logistics, providing market-leading cost analysis and spend insight—profiting from a £900m+ operational spend mandate. As a strategic member of the Operations Finance team, you’ll help reshape profitability via deeper spend scrutiny, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional projects.
Reports to: Operations Finance Manager Impact: Direct influence over long-term cost strategies, margin forecasting, and operational efficiency such as van lease optimization.
Responsibilities

Operational Cost Partnering
- Business partner to Operations, Ocado Logistics, and Ocado Solutions, tracking and interrogating Operational costs and fees for both Ocado.com and Zoom businesses (>£900m AY).
- Think: Data deals, stakeholder challenges, be the ‘buy me a coffee’ person to escalate opportunities.

Monthly & Strategic Reporting
- Support the Finance Manager in monthly forecasting, annual budget setting, and 5-year planning.
- Authorize analysis for quarterly Network Profitability sessions, ensuring leadership aligns on cost-leverage opportunities.

- Own weekly operational cost processes, engaging with internal & external stakeholders to challenge spend coding, mileage, and logistical pricing.
- Champion van strategy reviews, new leases, and branding across projects.

Data & System Leverage
- Be the ‘owner of truth’—ensure financial integrity across Finance Operations, enabling swifter, data-driven decision-making with a single source of truth in our finance systems.

- Ownership of continuous improvement through project execution, gaining deep knowledge of commercial cost modelling and financial reporting processes.
Who You Are
We’re looking for a strategic maverick who combines accounting acumen with a passion for chasing operational efficiencies. You should thrive on:
- Strategic business partnering – leaders who build lasting relationships with stakeholders and excel in framing financial truths for both management and teams seeking to question spend.
- Analytical drive – a desire to challenge assumptions, no sad Reacting with ‘…really?’ but hitting the spreadsheet & outside forces to confirm.
- Financial nerdiness – confidence with assimilation of complex financial numbers, budgeting/forecasting, and nose-for-my-problem—IQ high time and low budget complexity.
- Integrity in numbers – need accountability for robust, accurate, and easily accessible financial data.
- Tech-savvy – welcomes harnessing AI (e.g. margin tracking, anomaly detection) against legacy processes.
Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with 1+ years post-qualification.
- Proficiency with operational & financial Excel modelling (easiest when tying into ERP systems like SAP/Salesforce).
- Sound understanding of:
- Cost allocation models
- Farewell variance magic (explanations leveraging Vo Cs trust)
- Hybrid finance teams, home 10K–30K P&L
- Supplying us with a monthly verbal times narrative that drives 10% more margin.
- An attention to detail & resilience—streamlining your balance sheet connections, not rushed toothed.
