Senior Finance Business Analyst
Location: London (hybrid working)

The Role:
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Analyst to join Robert Walters as a Consultant. As a Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an assignment within our clients' organisations, in return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional support. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a global business, providing top-tier service to our blue chip clients.
As a Senior Finance Business Analyst, you will assist with accounting and reporting activities ensuring the accuracy and consistency of underlying data, and to liaise with external and internal customers to deliver financial results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a broad range of operational accounting activities, enabling delivery of robust financial results working in conjunction with Financial Control
- Manage and drive the refinement of process, procedures and systems to continuously improve the efficiency and control across accounting and balance sheet substantiation activities
- Support key stakeholders through the delivery of meaningful variance and trend analysis while working in conjunction with our Financial Control and Business Partnering teams
- Oversight of and mentor staff involved in preparation and posting of general ledger journal entries
- Represent Finance Operations and input into projects / change programmes, impacting accounting activities, as necessary
- Maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including our auditors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations
- Lead colleagues, in a matrix fashion, working on accounting activities, at our offshore shared services centre
- Work with Senior Finance Managers to set the tone and create a culture of continuous improvement within accounting activities in Finance Operations
- Contribute to the refinement of process, procedures and systems to continuously improve efficiency of accounting
- Undertake month end activities such as reconciliations and analysis of accounts to ensure correct procedures are followed
- Contribute to the production of reports and accounts ensuring accurate reporting and Management Information in line with respective timescales
- Develop own knowledge of standard procedures and processes

Qualification/Essential Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent
- Insurance industry experience is essential
- Experience working in a complex environment, ideally within Insurance Accounting teams
- Strong financial accounting background, with proven experience in developing controls
- Proficient in MS Excel (including pivot tables, IF statements, VLOOKUPs, and handling large datasets), with strong working knowledge of other MS Office applications
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail, capable of interpreting complex financial data and producing detailed commentary
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders across finance, actuarial, underwriting and external auditors
- A proactive mindset toward process improvements, automation initiatives and contributing to system enhancements within financial reporting
- Familiarity with Oracle, Hyperion Financial Management and TM1 is desirable
