What You'll Do
Distribution and Supply Chain
Hybrid working from Northampton
Are you a commercially-focused finance professional ready to drive strategic change? Toolstation is looking for a proactive and resilient Distribution & Supply Chain Senior Finance Business Partner to join our team in Northampton. This is a pivotal role where you will directly influence strategic and operational decision-making across our ambitious transformation programme.
As a key Business Partner to the Distribution & Supply Chain leadership team, you will ensure every financial strategy is commercially sound and aligned with our core business objectives. You will also take on a leadership element, responsible for the management and development of the Distribution and Supply Chain Finance Analyst.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Cost Management: Partner with the Distribution leadership team to meet cost targets across the network, driving continuous improvement and controlling costs in third-party supplier relationships, including managing open-book contracts. Proactively identify risks and opportunities, developing mitigation or exploitation strategies.
- Network Transformation: Act as the Finance lead for the network transformation project, applying robust financial management to deliver cost-effective, long-term business solutions and recommending corrective actions when financial targets are at risk.
- Stock & Supply Chain Insight: Partner with the Supply Chain leadership team to deliver on stock holding targets in our Distribution Centres and Stores, providing crucial analytical support to drive decision-making on stock purchases, weeks cover, and stock health.
- Financial Planning: Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting processes for the function.
- Performance Reporting: Produce insightful weekly and monthly performance reports, including detailed variance analysis and narrative-driven commentary that clearly explains the "why" behind the numbers.
- Team Leadership: Line manage, mentor, and develop the Distribution & Supply Chain Finance Analyst, fostering a culture of strong business partnership and high performance.

What You'll Bring
- 3 years plus Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) accountancy professional (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Strong business partnering and stakeholder engagement skills essentially within a Supply Chain and Distribution Function.
- Excellent analytical, data management, and data manipulation capabilities.
- Confident in liaising at all levels of the business with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Behaviours: You are a strong relationship builder, analytical, resilient, driven, and adept at problem-solving and collaboration. You are comfortable operating in an uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment.
- Experience in a large FMCG or retail company is advantageous.
