At Severn Trent, AMP8 represents one of the most exciting and ambitious periods in our history. As we invest in our networks, infrastructure, and communities, we're looking for a talented and commercially minded Senior Finance Business Partner to join our Chief Engineer & Capital Delivery Finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance leader who enjoys working at the heart of business decision-making. You'll partner with senior leaders, provide valuable financial insight, and help ensure we deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers while driving strong financial performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a trusted finance partner, you'll play a key role in supporting the Chief Engineer and Capital Delivery functions, helping to shape strategy and deliver ambitious performance targets.

You'll:

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to drive strong financial and operational performance.
  • Provide robust challenge and insightful analysis on budgets, forecasts, and business cases.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maximise value.
  • Deliver clear and timely financial forecasts, helping leaders make confident decisions.
  • Monitor performance, highlighting risks and opportunities and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
  • Support investment decisions through rigorous financial appraisal and commercial analysis.
  • Lead, coach and develop a talented finance team, creating a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Provide meaningful insights into cost drivers, business performance, and regulatory impacts.
  • Help shape long-term financial and business strategies across the Capital Delivery and Chief Engineer functions.

HOW WE WORK

You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

You'll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why, we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you'll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We're seeking an experienced finance professional who combines strong commercial acumen with excellent relationship-building skills.

You'll bring:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience operating at a senior finance level within a fast-paced environment.
  • A proven track record of delivering financial performance improvements and efficiencies.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing strategic decision-making.
  • Strong financial modelling and investment appraisal experience, including business case development.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively while building trusted relationships across the business.
  • A collaborative leadership style and passion for developing high-performing teams.
