Senior Finance Business Partner
Location: Derby Salary: Up to £70,000 + additional long-term incentive potential Location Flexibility: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a growing, service-based business in Derby as a Senior Finance Business Partner.
You’ll report to the Commercial Finance Director, taking full ownership across forecasting, budgeting, reporting, commercial insight, and business partnering. This is a forward-looking, strategic finance role—one that goes beyond reporting the numbers.
You won’t just explain what has happened—you’ll help the business understand what the numbers mean, what needs to change, and what actions must be taken.
Why This Role Is Worth Your Attention
✅ True Ownership
- Own the group forecast, lead the budgeting process, and enhance the quality of reporting, commentary, and commercial insight.
✅ Proper Business Partnering
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and department heads, challenging assumptions, reviewing cost pressures, and driving better accountability across the business.
✅ Forward-Looking FP&A Focus
- This is not a traditional month-end role. While reporting is part of it, the primary focus is on forecasting, planning, insight, modelling, and improving finance’s role in decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
