Senior Finance Business Partner – Waste
Drive performance. Influence decisions. Shape commercial success.
We're looking for a commercially focused Senior Finance Business Partner to join our Waste Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Finance. This is a high-impact role where you'll partner with senior operational leaders, challenge performance, and help maximise revenue and profitability across a portfolio of key contracts. You'll also lead and develop a Junior FBP, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership role while staying close to the commercial action.
What You'll Be Doing
Commercial leadership & business partnering
- Act as the key finance contact for Operational Key Account Managers and Directors
- Build strong relationships to understand performance, risks, and opportunities
- Challenge and support Operations to drive revenue growth and margin improvement
- Provide scenario modelling and insightful analysis to support decision making and bids
- Lead the financial input into budgets, forecasts, and strategic planning
Financial reporting & control
- Own the accurate and timely delivery of P&L and working capital reporting
- Ensure revenue is recognised in line with Group policy
- Take responsibility for purchase accruals accuracy across your portfolio
- Produce monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis
- Present results to senior stakeholders including HoCF and Operations Directors
Contract & performance management
- Support and attend contract performance reviews
- Work closely with Billing to ensure timely and accurate invoicing
- Oversee accrued income and aged items, driving transparency and resolution
- Partner with Credit Control to maximise cash collection
- Ensure system orders for sales and costs are accurate and well managed

Leadership & wider contribution
- Lead, support and develop your direct report (Junior FBP)
- Support the Head of Commercial Finance with ad hoc analysis and reporting
- Play a key role in driving initiatives to reduce working capital and improve performance
What We're Looking For
- Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA with commercial experience
- Strong business partnering skills with the ability to influence at senior level
- Advanced Excel capability
- Proven ability to translate complex financials into clear, actionable insight
- Experience working in a fast-paced, changing environment
- A proactive, energetic approach with a drive to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines
- Strong integrity and commitment to robust governance and controls
- Previous experience in a commercial or operational environment (highly desirable)
- Leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop others
