Senior Finance Business Partner

Rate: £400 - £475 a day

Location: Hybrid - 3 days a month in Edinburgh

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected public sector organisation in a senior leadership position, helping to shape financial sustainability across Scotland's universities and colleges. With only three days a month required in the office, this role offers exceptional flexibility and is open to candidates from across the UK who are happy to travel occasionally.

As Assistant Director of Institutional Financial Health, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for monitoring the financial resilience of institutions, providing strategic financial advice, and supporting organisations to strengthen their long-term financial planning and governance.

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will:

  • Lead and develop a team of Finance Business Partners and Finance Trainees.
  • Oversee the financial health and governance of a portfolio of higher and further education institutions.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing strategic financial advice and constructive challenge.
  • Produce high-quality financial analysis and reports to support executive and board-level decision making.
  • Work closely with government, auditors and sector partners on financial governance and long-term planning.

About You

You will be a fully qualified accountant with strong post-qualified experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in higher education, the public sector, or finance business partnering would be advantageous but is not essential.
