UK & Ireland Senior Finance Business Partner

The UK & Ireland Senior Finance Business Partner acts as the trusted financial partner for the UK & Ireland region, embedded directly within the commercial leadership team. Your mission is to shift Finance from reactive to diagnostic, moving business conversations from “what happened” to “why it happened, what it means, and what we do about it.”
You will bring the numbers to life in a way that drives real commercial outcomes—improving margin, sharpening forecasts, and making Pentland’s Finance function the team commercial leaders actively seek out.
Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership
- Embed with regional commercial leadership to shape medium-term strategy, including:
- Channel mix optimisation
- Pricing models
- Promotional cadence
- Portfolio margin optimisation
- Translate strategic commercial initiatives into financial frameworks, KPIs, and scenario models that inform decision-making and build commercial confidence.
- Proactively engage in route-to-market decisions, ensuring Finance is front and centre in key strategic projects.
- Build strong credibility and stakeholder relationships to position Finance as proactive experts—not just reactive crisis solvers.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Integrated Business Planning (IBP)
- Lead the regional contribution to IBP, ensuring:
- Challenging, aligned, and traceable assumptions that support global and EMEA forecasts.
- Driving forecast accuracy with root-cause variance analysis to shift discussions from reactive to diagnostic.
- Embed consistent driver frameworks linking demand, pricing, and supply constraints.
- Improve forecast quality by embedding budget holders and holding them accountable for inputs.

Performance Reporting & Margin Insight
- Deliver region-specific performance reports (weekly and monthly), including:
- Margin decomposition
- Promotion ROI analysis
- Channel profitability
- Stock impacts on sales and margin
- Trend analysis
- Provide actionable commercial insights, influencing decisions on:
- New product introductions
- Markdown strategies
- Pricing levers
- Route-to-market adjustments
- Drive margin rate improvements by reviewing customer terms and delivering customer profitability P&Ls.
- Enhance transparency and accountability through deeper insights into functional costs and variance drivers.
Decision Support & Scenario Planning
- Build and maintain models for what-if scenario evaluations, including:
- Price elasticity
- Assortment optimisation
- Cannibalisation impacts
- Develop models for discounting strategies, channel shifts, and promotional levers.
- Partner with commercial teams to stress-test plans and strategic trade-offs with full financial implications in mind.
Stock & Operational Finance
- Collaborate with Merchandise Planners to optimise aged stock, reducing working capital risk.
- Work with Supply Chain Finance to ensure Finance influences operational trade-offs.
- Enable retail marketing ROI analysis and resource allocation decisions.
Cross-functional Collaboration & EMEA Alignment
- Align with Central Commercial and DTC FP&A to harmonise:
- Reporting definitions
- Planning frameworks across EMEA
- Strengthen EMEA commercial decision-making with high-quality financial insights for:
- Major trading decisions
- Customer and brand strategies
- Improve collaboration with Commercial, FP&A, and Supply Chain teams where their functions intersect.
Note: The role is based in Farringdon, with no typical international travel required.
Requirements
- A qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) with 5+ years of post-qualification experience.
- A proven track record in commercial finance or FP&A, preferably within consumer goods, retail, or branded goods.
- Strong business partnering skills, ability to build relationships with non-finance stakeholders, and translate complex financial insights into clear commercial language.
- Expertise in financial modelling, scenario planning, and margin analysis, with a sharp commercial instinct for value drivers.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and IBP processes, with a track record of improving forecast accuracy and planning quality.
- A diagnostic mindset, driven to unpack root causes and recommend clear actions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced matrix organisation, managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Comfortable working in multi-market environments—EMEA or global exposure is a plus.
