Purpose of the Role
The Senior Finance Business Partner at The Captivate Group leads financial strategy for two agencies and one overseas division (US division).
Key tasks include:
- Providing commercial and strategic financial insights
- Owning agency P&L reporting
- Supporting project financial management
- Ensuring accurate revenue recognition, forecasting, and statutory reporting
Key Responsibilities
1. Agency Financial Leadership
- Serve as the finance lead for two UK agencies and the US division.
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insight and drive decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to transfer pricing agreements and maintain audit-ready documentation.
2. P&L Ownership & Performance Analysis
- Own monthly P&L for assigned agencies.
- Prepare management accounts, and conduct variance analysis with commentary.
- Liaise with the US accountants for consolidated reporting.
- Review and reconcile US balance sheet discrepancies.
- Coordinate with finance teams to ensure US-UK reporting alignment.
3. Revenue Recognition & Gross Profit
- Improve gross profit margins through continuous review.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with UK & US accounting standards and contract agreements.
- Review work-in-progress (WIP), accrued income, and deferred income balances.

4. Client Profitability & Utilisation
- Develop and systemise client profitability and staff utilisation reporting across the group.
- Provide KPIs and insights to FD on profitability improvements.
- Lead initiatives to enhance operational financial health.
5. Revenue & GP Forecasting
- Maintain rolling revenue and gross profit forecasts.
- Regularly update forecasts using client team inputs and CRM pipeline data.
- Present forecasting models to the Finance Director to meet board deadlines.
6. Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned agencies, including spending controls and reviews.
- Prepare quarterly financial reforecasts based on real-time performance.
- Maintain close collaboration with Operations heads on budget adherence.
- Present budgets and forecasts to Finance Director and board on time.
7. Work-in-Progress & Project Financial Management
- Monitor WIP to ensure timely billing and minimize debt.
- Facilitate monthly WIP reviews with project teams.
- Conduct post-project reviews to refine billing processes and margins.
8. Client Billing & Debtor Management
- Ensure prompt invoicing based on project milestones.
- Prevent jobs from closing with unbilled costs.
- Liaise with the outsourced finance team for debtor collections.
- Maintain an updated client payment terms database.
- Monitor aged debt and chase overdue balances.

9. Statutory Compliance
- Support the annual audit process, including compliance with deadlines and quality checks.
- Provide auditors with assured information per agreed timelines.
Additional Responsibilities
- Drive finance system improvements and enhancements.
- Maintain expert knowledge of financial platforms.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Core Competencies
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Experience in managing international divisions (e.g., US, EU).
- Exposure to financial governance in a large corporate group.
- Exceptional commercial finance and analytical skills.
- Impeccable attention to detail and reporting accuracy.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modelling.
- Strong ability to produce insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Strategic-level negotiation and influencing skills in operational decision-making.
