The Opportunity: Senior Finance Manager – European FP&A

Our automated and AI-enabled technology empowers researchers to tackle complex questions and gain deep insights, accelerating the development of safer, more effective therapeutics. Location: On-site at our Winnersh, UK office with potential travel to Austria or the US on a periodic basis.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the weekly, monthly, and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles for the European business unit, ensuring Molecular Devices and Danaher corporate reporting schedules are met on time via collaboration with the global FP&A team.
- Work closely with operational teams in Europe and finance teams across UK, Austria, and the US.
- Partner with commercial leadership to drive profitable growth, supporting deal structures, commercial terms, and compliance with accounting standards and policies.
- Conduct deep dives into bookings, revenue, and margin trends, assessing risks, opportunities, and currency impacts, while enforcing operating cost control through variance analysis and reports.

Financial Analysis & Management
- Provide detailed in-depth financial analysis and performance variances, aligning forecasts with real-time market dynamics.
- Support month-end close procedures, focusing on revenue recognition, margin analysis, inventory, and manufacturing accounting, and submitting insights as part of month-end financial reports.
- Ensure a strong control environment, maintaining adherence to delegation of authority protocols and finalising the design and operation of controls.
Team Leadership & Improvement Initiatives
- Lead, motivate, and develop two direct reports and the wider European finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Spearhead European project initiatives, system implementations, AI initiatives, and process enhancements.

Essential Requirements
- Qualified accountant (qualifications include ACA, ACCA, or CIMA or equivalent) with minimum 5 years post-qualification experience, including strong technical finance knowledge—specifically expertise in revenue recognition requirements.
- Proven FP&A and business partnering experience, ideally in a global environment or US-owned organisation.
- Experience leading budgeting and forecasting cycles in a matrix environment.
- Track record of executive team collaboration and stakeholder influence.
- Strong skills in ERP systems, reporting/forecasting tools such as Oracle and OneStream, along with advanced Excel and financial modelling proficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change in complex multinational settings with strict deadlines, compliance and controls.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders effectively.
