About the Role
We are seeking a **highly motivated Senior Finance Manager – European FP&A' to join our European Finance team.
Location: Based at the Winnersh, UK office, with periodic travel to Austria or the US.
This is a high-impact role offering broad exposure across European operations, commercial leadership, and global finance teams, with significantinput into transformation initiatives.
Reporting to: European Finance Director.
You will lead budgeting and forecasting for Europe, act as a trusted finance partner to regional operational and commercial teams, and drive strong operating expense control.
Part of the European Finance Leadership Team, you’ll play a critical role in engaging and developing your two direct reports and wider finance team, while leading initiatives in AI, system enhancements, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Lead budget and forecast cycles for the European business unit:
- Oversee weekly, monthly, and annual budgeting and forecasting to ensure compliance with Molecular Devices and Danaher corporate reporting schedules.
- Collaborate with the global FP&A team to meet deadlines.

Partner with the commercial function to drive profitable growth:
- Support deal structures and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
- Provide financial analysis for bookings, revenue, and margin trends, aligning forecasts with market risks and opportunities.

Build operating expense control:
- Provide monthly expense reporting and variance analysis to European budget owners.
- Facilitate deeper insights through deep dives into key expense lines.

Facilitate month-end close processes:
- Lead revenue recognition, margin analysis, and inventory and manufacturing accounting.
- Provide analysis of performance against forecast as part of month-end submissions.

Strengthen financial controls:
- Ensure adherence to delegation of authority and effective management of internal controls and compliance.

Lead and develop the European finance team:
- Coach your two direct reports and the broader finance team.
- Champion culture change initiatives, project transformations, and system implementations.
- Drive continuous process improvements.
Essential Requirements
To excel in this role, you must have:
- Fully qualified accounting professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in a global life sciences, diagnostics, or biotechnology firm.
- Strong FP&A expertise, with specialised experience in enterprise-wide financial planning, reporting, and analysis.

Experience leading budgeting and forecasting cycles in complex, matrix environments, ideally within a global organisation or US-owned business.

Proven ability to partner across finance and business teams to achieve operational excellence.

Deep expertise in financial controls, compliance, and closure processes, including revenue recognition, margin analysis, and inventory management.

Advanced financial modelling and system skills:
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and platforms such as OneStream.
- Excellent Excel proficiency for financial modelling and reporting.

Leadership and mentorship skills to develop high-performing F&A teams in a multi-regional environment.

Ability to work in diverse teams, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and drive strict deadlines with confidence.
