The organisation currently presents over 1,000 sales annually across 60+ specialist categories, including luxury, wine & spirits, and collector cars. Success stems from adapting to intercontinental buying trends and digital engagement.
About the Role
The FP&A Manager plays a critical role in driving financial performance management within Bonhams by leading budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes. This role combines data-driven analysis, strategic business partnering, and operational excellence to support decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring high-level financial insights for senior stakeholders.
- Leading hands-on financial analysis while acting as a trusted advisor.
- Collaborating with leaders to demonstrate accountability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for assigned business units or group functions.
- Consolidate financial inputs, validate assumptions, and align strategies with organisational goals.
- Conduct scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and modelling of business drivers.

Management Reporting & Insights
- Assist in producing monthly management reporting packs, including:
- P&L statements
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Variance analyses and commentary
- Provide actionable insights for the Executive Team and Board, including highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Produce high-quality board papers with accuracy.
Business Partnering
- Serve as a financial partner to functional leaders and divisional heads.
- Support strategic decision-making through:
- Financial analysis of business cases
- Headcount planning
- Cost optimisation initiatives
- Foster strong relationships across the organisation and promote financial discipline.
Financial Modelling & Analysis
- Maintain and enhance financial models for:
- Budgeting & forecasting
- Performance evaluation
- Conduct analyses on profitability, margins, costs, and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Support ad-hoc strategic projects, including scenario analysis.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline FP&A processes for:
- Improved accuracy
- Reduced reporting timelines
- Enhance systems for dashboards, planning tools, and automation.
- Ensure high-quality data standards and improve reporting tools.
Team Support / Mentorship
- Guide analysts or junior team members (where applicable).
- Review outputs for accuracy and financial credibility.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of post-qualification experience in FP&A, commercial finance, audit, or analytical roles.
- Strong proficiency in financial modelling and Excel.
- Exceptional analytical ability with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and provide constructive challenges.
- Experience working with financial systems and BI/reporting tools.

Preferred
- Experience in a medium-sized organisation or fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or modelling software.
- Prior involvement in budgeting processes or business partnering roles.

- Commercially astute, curious, and proactive.
- Demonstrates a strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills, with the discipline to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative and experienced engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
