Location: Watford
Are you a Senior Finance Manager with a background in FP&A looking for an opportunity where you can drive strategic impact in a high profile finance leadership role at Wickes? If so, this could be the role for you! We are recruiting for someone to join us on a 15 month FTC.
Role Purpose
This is a high-profile finance role in the FP&A team, and you will play an integral part in delivering high-quality reporting, performance analysis, and forecasting to the Wickes CFO, Exec, and PLC Board through the ownership of cash flow forecasting and analysis. The role includes stakeholder management and business partnering for Wickes Solar and the Support Centre, ensuring the team effectively partners with the business and acting as the main contact for both of these areas.

- Strategic Business Partnering: You’ll be the go-to finance contact for the Support Centre and Wickes Solar. This is about more than just month-end reporting; you’ll provide commercial insight, robust challenge, and strategic guidance to help these areas manage costs and support growth.
- Financial Insight: You’ll support the Investor Relations Director and CFO by providing financial data and analysis for investor presentations, results statements, and fact-packs.
- Leadership: You will lead and mentor one analyst, fostering a supportive environment while ensuring the team consistently hits deadlines and high standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
