Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NWSSP Finance Team in the role of Senior Finance Officer based in Nantgarw HQ with flexible working. This role will provide a wide range of experience in financial management across NWSSP.
Ideal candidates should be hard-working, committed individuals with:
- Financial experience and a sharp eye for detail

- Commitment to meeting strict deadlines
While speaking Welsh is desirable, Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Responsible for raising invoices for NWSSP and liaising with external and NHS agencies
- Maintains records for invoicing, ensuring accurate tracking of income
- Actions journals and expenditure correctly according to agreed procedures (e.g., cost-centre allocation)
- Performs delegated monthly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and adjustment of budgets/income
Financial Analysis & System Management
- Produces and maintains financial trend information, presenting data clearly for stakeholders
- Tracks and reports on monthly resource usage, using tools like graphs and pivot tables for diverse requirements
- Develops expertise in financial systems, including Oracle, Qlikview, and other tools, to:
- Enhance financial coding
- Identify and resolve errors
Communication & Personnel Support
- Provides financial information to managers and team members, addressing routine and ad hoc queries
- Works closely with stakeholders to explain financial data and processes
- Applies financial procedures with minimal direct supervision, taking initiative where appropriate

Budgeting & Forecasting
- Contributes to draft costed establishments and budget proposals
- Conducts ad hoc costing, forecasting, and variance analysis to support the financial management team

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria: Qualifications equivalent to:
- AAT Technician or NVQ Level 4
- OR a degree qualification
- OR at least three A-Levels (grades A-C)
Experience
Essential criteria:
- Broad knowledge of financial and accounting procedures Desirable criteria:
- Experience with NHS finance policies and legislation
- Strong relationship-building and customer service skills to engage with specialist teams
