Senior Finance Officer

Location: NW London
Contract: Temporary (6 months)
Salary: £375 per day umbrella / £330.10 PAYE Inclusive / £294.55 PAYE Exclusive

Job Description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in London for a Senior Finance Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will work closely with stakeholders to provide accountancy support and advice specific to the Children’s Social Care section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, monitor and forecast revenue and capital budgets, providing accurate financial analysis and reporting to budget managers.
  • Produce management information, financial forecasts, statutory returns, grant claims and year-end accounting information to agreed deadlines.
  • Provide professional financial analysis, advice and support to non-financial managers, helping to drive informed decision-making and effective budget management.
  • Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, process improvements and the ongoing development of financial systems and procedures.

Candidate Criteria

  • CCAB part-qualified/AAT qualified or qualified through significant relevant finance experience.
  • Previous experience in a finance or management accounting role, ideally within the public sector, with strong knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, together with experience using financial systems such as SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
