This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team in a role that combines management accounting, team leadership, and process improvement. You'll play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager, supervising a team of Finance Assistants, and ensuring the smooth running of month-end reporting and financial controls.
This position would suit someone looking to step into a role with genuine responsibility, where they can influence processes, support colleagues, and contribute to the continued development of the finance function.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising, mentoring, and supporting a team of three Finance Assistants.
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Producing accurate monthly financial reports for a range of departments.
- Completing month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Reconciling the finance system with the housing management system.
- Producing ad hoc analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiencies across the finance function.
- Building strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation and providing financial support where required.
- Providing holiday cover for payroll when necessary.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
