About The Role

You will report to the Financial Accounting Controller and play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, accurate statutory reporting, and compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, tax, and treasury requirements across Refresco UK. This broad role spans technical accounting, financial control, tax compliance, treasury activities, and team leadership. You’ll lead core financial accounting processes, strengthen balance sheet controls, manage foreign currency forecasting and hedging, support statutory accounts preparation, and act as a key contact for auditors and regulators. Alongside this, you will develop and guide a team of Financial Accountants, driving standardisation, continuous improvement, and best practice across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities Of The Senior Financial Accountant

Strengthen financial controls by ensuring compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, SOX and Group reporting, while driving continuous improvement across accounting processes Lead core financial reporting including month‑end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory accounts, and acting as the main contact for external auditors Manage tax compliance across VAT, industry‑specific levies, duties, PSA, corporation tax and R&D claims, including stakeholder queries and HMRC audits Oversee treasury and cash controls through ownership of the 12‑month FX hedging forecast and approval of weekly/month‑end bank reconciliations Support Group reporting by validating financial submissions and ensuring accurate, timely delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual cycles Develop and lead the finance team by coaching three accountants and contributing to a high‑performance culture aligned with Refresco’s Great Place to Work® ambition

About You

We’re looking for a qualified finance professional with strong technical accounting expertise, proven experience in financial control, and a genuine drive for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualified, bringing significant experience from a medium‑to‑large organisation’s Financial Accounting function. They will have deep knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, hands‑on experience preparing statutory accounts, and a solid track record of supporting external audits. Strong balance sheet control, high‑quality reconciliation skills, and a working understanding of tax compliance—including VAT and corporate tax—are essential to succeed in this role.
