Senior Financial Accountant (12 month fixed-term contract)

We are partnering with a leading, mid-market Private Equity firm seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a dynamic, fast-paced Private Equity environment, supporting the business through high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and business partnering.

About the Role: Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial information, improving financial processes, and supporting strategic decision-making across the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain robust financial controls
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Produce cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital
  • Partner with senior management to provide insightful financial analysis and challenge where appropriate
  • Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and support the external audit process
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
  • Support ad hoc commercial analysis, board reporting, and strategic finance projects as required
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior members of the finance team where appropriate

Role Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in management accounting within a corporate, financial services, or Private Equity-backed environment
  • Strong knowledge of month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to drive efficiencies

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within Private Equity, investment management, alternative assets, or financial services
  • Exposure to multi-entity accounting structures
  • Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting
  • Knowledge of finance systems implementation or process improvement initiatives
