The role

The Senior Financial Accountant will support in ensuring that branch financial reporting is completed to a high quality and in a timely manner.

The role also has an emphasis on developing and improving the underlying processes and controls, in line with the policies and standards of the company. The job holder must have a strong sense of accountability and ownership of the work assigned and should be able to deliver results under tight deadlines, whilst showing flexibility and tenacity when required.

The position is a 12 month fixed term contract.

Key accountabilities

Financial Reporting (Technical)

  • Lead in the setting up of business partnering for the financial controls area, identifying key stakeholders and control account owners
  • Set up SLA’s with key stakeholders that are required to contribute to the production of the monthly audit file
  • Lead in updating finance procedures to support in the building of a finance manual
  • Implementation of process improvements to improve efficiency within scope of responsibility
  • Support in preparing and delivering accurate quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements for the UK branch / UK Carrier
  • Support the preparation and review process of branch and UK Carrier financial results
  • Ability to develop a detailed understanding of the technical result of the UK Branch
  • Support the establishment of the ability to analyse the UK Branch IFRS 17 result
  • Maintain a clear overview and understanding of the translation of operational data into financial results
  • Analyse changes in regulations (statutory, legal, etc), and the potential impact on the UK Branch
  • Support maintaining and communicating a clear understanding of the key interfaces across the technical result of the UK Branch
  • Support the deliveries of interim and annual audit for the UK Branch, Service Co
  • Support the Tagetik IFRS 17 quarterly uploads for UK Carrier
  • Support in Tagetik SII quarterly and annual uploads for UK Carrier
  • Design, deliver, develop and analyse reports, identify and recommend solutions to reporting issues in line with group/branch requirements
  • Adhere to all local and group guidelines

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the efficiency, quality and value of processes within the scope of responsibility
  • Manage system improvements and documentation of controls in respect of branch reporting processes.
  • Perform detailed validation work and analytical review on the data and address or escalate any unexpected results or inconsistencies in data.

Skills & experience

  • Insurance Industry experience
  • Good organisational skills including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the wider finance team
  • A service-oriented attitude to delivering the business requirements
  • Problem Solving mind-set
  • Effective communication within the team, senior management, head office, group and wider stakeholders
