Location - Birmingham (Hybrid)

Our client, a well-established international organisation, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant – Statutory & Controls to join their UK finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working at the heart of financial control, statutory reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Reporting into the UK Finance Manager, you will assume responsibility for designated UK legal entities, ensuring financial records are accurate, compliant, and fully aligned with UK GAAP and IFRS requirements. You will also play a key role in strengthening financial controls, supporting audits, and driving process improvements across the finance function.

Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant – Statutory & Controls to play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, and governance for UK entities. Working closely with auditors, tax advisers, and senior stakeholders, you'll help ensure strong financial controls while driving process improvements across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 101).
- Lead year-end audits and act as the main contact for external auditors.
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
- Partner with tax specialists on corporation tax, VAT, CIS, and transfer pricing matters.
- Support HMRC enquiries and review tax-related balances.
- Maintain and enhance financial controls, including journals, reconciliations, and intercompany processes.
- Investigate variances, resolve control issues, and support internal audits.
- Oversee intercompany accounting, treasury-related activities, FX revaluations, and funding transactions.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, close, and reconciliation processes.

About You
- Strong financial accounting and statutory reporting experience.
- Good working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience managing external audits.
- A strong focus on controls, governance, and balance sheet integrity.
- Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership.
Qualifications
- Part-qualified or fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant.
