Senior Financial Accountant

Location

London, Liverpool Street (Hybrid working – 2/3 days WFH)

Salary

£75,000 - £90,000 + discretionary bonus & comprehensive benefits package


Our client is a dual FTSE and US-listed energy group operating across a complex international footprint. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their London finance team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Accounting, this role will play a key part in supporting financial reporting, analysis, and stakeholder reporting requirements across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packs
  • Perform detailed balance sheet and P&L analysis, investigating key variances and trends
  • Review financial information prepared by external advisers and challenge outputs where appropriate
  • Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
  • Prepare reconciliations, reporting schedules, and financial commentary
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting activities
  • Support board, lender, and investor reporting requirements
  • Liaise with external auditors and professional advisers throughout reporting cycles
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Partner with stakeholders across finance and the wider business to support decision-making

  • ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualified accountant
  • Trained within a Big 4 or Top 10 accountancy practice with an external audit background
  • 1-3 years of industry experience gained following qualification
  • US GAAP experience would be beneficial
  • Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure, or Natural Resources sector experience would be advantageous
  • Strong financial reporting, analytical, and review skills
  • Experience preparing or reviewing management reporting and financial analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across the business
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
