Job Overview

Post 1

Supporting the Estates, Utilities and Facilities functions, this is the team leader Finance role for Corporate Finance and will be required to develop excellent working relationships with the other Senior Finance colleagues, Shared Services and operational leads.

Post 2

Supporting Secondary Care services at Ysbyty Gwynedd as part of the West IHC across Emergency Care, Medicine, Surgical & Management Divisions (Lead to be discussed at interview). This is the team leader Finance role. You will work closely with our clinical and operational teams, helping to ensure our services maximise their value for money.

The post provides senior financial leadership across pan-BCU services, overseeing Vaccination/Health Protection, Regional Partnership Board (RPB) funding including the Regional Integration Fund, Further Faster and the Housing with Care Fund for adults and children. Leading on budget setting, financial modelling, in-year monitoring and year-end reconciliation. Working closely with Welsh Government, Local Authorities, RPBs and internal finance and operational teams. The role ensures robust governance, compliance (including subsidy control), audit support and IMTP alignment, contributing to effective risk management and value delivery within a complex system.

Main Duties of the Job

An excellent opportunity for a highly motivated finance professional with knowledge and experience across a broad range of financial functions. You will join the Finance Department during a period of change and transformation, supporting delivery of the Board’s healthcare priorities while providing financial advice.

Responsibility includes management accounting and business partnering support for services. The roles provide financial support, advice and information to corporate and operational divisions to help manage budgets effectively, ensuring delivery of financial targets and statutory duties. Maintaining compliance with corporate policies, procedures and governance standards is essential.

You will support the Assistant/Chief Finance Officer and Divisional Management Teams, contributing to performance reviews and highlighting key financial issues.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Applicants should have excellent analytical, technical, reporting and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise.

Be CCAB qualified (or actively studying), with experience in managing a Finance Team. Have an awareness of relevant services within the NHS.

The posts are offered on a full-time substantive basis based in Bangor, Gwynedd (flexibility regarding base site may be possible) along with some flexibility to work from home during the week.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Student accountant member of CCAB institute, or ability to demonstrate qualification by relevant and significant experience.

Desirable Criteria

  • Qualified member of CCAB institute.
  • ECDL qualified or other relevant IT qualification

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Senior finance experience in large organisation.
  • Experience in the finance function, particularly within the areas of Management Accounting, Sustainability and Reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and financial aspects of NHS Legislation and policy
  • Experience of data manipulation, investigation and analysis.
  • Experience of dealing with complicated situations and the delivery of challenging corporate objectives
  • Experience of working within a complex and politically sensitive organisation
  • Evidence of successfully influencing senior clinicians and other professionals and working with a multi-disciplinary team.
