SENIOR FIRE ENGINEER
Diamond & Co
£45,000 – £60,000 DOE
Glasgow / Hybrid
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to join Diamond & Co and play a key role in delivering high-quality fire engineering work across residential and Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).
This role combines technically robust fire strategy design with façade fire risk analysis and remediation advisory work. You’ll be trusted to take ownership of complex instructions, contribute to technical decision-making, and provide clear, practical advice aligned to UK regulations and best practice.
Working under the direction of the Director of Fire Safety, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across fire engineering, surveying and project delivery. This is a role for someone who enjoys technical depth, professional autonomy and work that genuinely matters.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
This role requires strong fire engineering judgement, the ability to work independently, and a clear understanding of the UK regulatory framework across both England and Scotland.
You will be expected to deliver consistently high-quality fire strategies and associated technical outputs, contribute to façade and remediation advisory work, and support HRB-related projects including safety case and regulatory engagement where required.
You will also play an active role in mentoring junior engineers and supporting internal QA and technical development.
What Success Looks Like
You’ll be successful in this role if:
- Your fire strategies are technically robust, clearly written and defensible
- Your advice is practical and proportionate, not “tick-box”
- You manage multiple instructions confidently and deliver on time
- Clients and stakeholders trust your judgement and communication
- You raise technical standards within the team through mentoring and QA input

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
