The Role
As a Senior Fire Safety Engineer, you’ll bring specialised expertise to protect UK defence assets, ensuring safety for personnel, infrastructure, and operations. This impactful role involves Guiding major engineering decisions, collaborating with design teams, and strengthening safety cases in a complex, high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expert (SME) fire safety advice to internal teams, the Ministry of Defence, and external stakeholders.
- Review fire system designs, upgrades, and new projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Identify and address fire safety shortfalls, formulating robust improvement recommendations.
- Build strategic relationships with stakeholders to drive compliant and collaborative delivery.

This role is on-site at HMNB Clyde Faslane, operating 36 hours per week.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Experience Required
- Deep understanding of fire codes, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of facility infrastructure and fire safety operations.
- Hands-on experience in fire system design.
- Experience analysing fire systems for new projects and upgrades, including *annual fire safety compliance audits.
Qualifications
- Fire Alarms Modules 1 & 2.
- NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety.
- Degree in Engineering with a fire safety specialism (undergraduate or postgraduate).
- Level 4 Certificate or HNC in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors qualification).
- Fire Protection Association Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment.
Security Clearance Requirement
Applicants must be eligible for and able to maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance. Certain roles may have additional national security vetting requirements. More details are available on the UK Security Vetting – GOV.UK page.
