Senior Embedded DevOps / Build & Release Engineer
About the Role
The Software group at Arm develops and enhances the software ecosystem for next-generation server-class SoCs and reference platforms, including firmware, boot software, system software, and platform enablement stacks closely tied to advanced hardware technologies.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Embedded DevOps / Build & Release Engineer to lead CI/CD infrastructure, enable firmware development repositories, and support partner and customer release activities. This critical role ensures reliable, scalable, and automated deployment of firmware stacks across multiple SoC programs. You’ll collaborate closely with firmware, platform, validation, and release teams to maintain build systems, improve workflows, manage pipelines, and guarantee on-time delivery of artifacts to internal teams, partners, and customers.
Work at the intersection of embedded software, DevOps, CI/CD, and release engineering, driving improvements in software quality, build reliability, and delivery efficiency.
Responsibilities
CI/CD Pipeline Maintenance & Enhancement
- Maintain, optimize, and grow CI/CD pipelines for embedded firmware and software codebases.
- Enable and configure repositories for firmware components and platform programs (e.g., TF-A, UEFI, SCP, bootloaders, Linux, and related software).
Release & Distribution Automation
- Assist in distribution processes for key firmware stacks, including TF-A, UEFI, SCP, bootloaders, Linux.
- Build and enhance automated pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, automating:
- Firmware build workflows
- Image generation
- Packaging, signing, and versioning
- Artifact publishing

Collaboration & Problem-Solving
- Work directly with firmware, infrastructure, verification, and QA teams to:
- Debug build failures, integration issues, and release blockers.
- Implement per-patch, nightly, and release validation routines to boost quality.
- Ensure fast resolution for partner and customer release activities, including:
- Release branches, tags, and artifact publishing.
- Documentation and delivery packages.
Infrastructure & Tooling Management
- Maintain CI/CD runners, build environments, scripts, and automation frameworks.
- Integrate and manage static analysis, compliance, and security tools like Coverity and Black Duck.
- Drive standardization of build and release processes across repositories and SoC programs.
Developer Experience & Dashboarding
- Improve developer productivity via:
- Automation tooling.
- Self-service workflows.
- Clear documentation.
- Monitor CI health, build failures, test trends, and release readiness via dashboards.
Timely Delivery & Compliance
- Ensure support for live releases, partner drops, customer deliveries, and internal builds.
Requirements & Skills
Required
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Build & Release, embedded software, or CI/CD roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficient in GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar CI tools.
- Scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
- Experience managing embedded firmware or platform software repos.
- Knowledge of:
- Firmware components (TF-A, UEFI, SCP, bootloaders, Linux).
- Build systems (Make, CMake).
- Embedded and SoC architectures.
- Linux development and build system experience.

Nice to Have
- Experience with firmware signing, secure boot, or trusted firmware.
- Familiarity with Docker/containers and reproducible build workflows.
- Exposure to static analysis, security scanning, or OSS compliance tools (e.g., Coverity, Black Duck).
- Ability to create dashboards for CI/build/release/test metrics.
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks and validation pipelines.

Salary Range
- £73,500 – £99,500 per year.
